The impact of self-determination factors on the psychological wellbeing of “helicoptered” Malaysian youths

Institution/Organisation: Heriot-Watt University Malaysia

Brief description of Research:

Helicopter parenting is a style of parenting that is overcontrolling over all aspects of a child’s life. To some of us, this may sound familiar. Have you ever wondered how such parenting styles may impact a child’s life into adulthood? My name is Jaclyn Heng, and I am conducting a research study on how Malaysians’ parenting styles, such as helicopter parenting, impact Malaysian youths’ psychological wellbeing through self-determination factors of autonomy, relatedness, and competence.

This research is open to individuals who:

- are Malaysian

- are 18-30 years old

- have at least 1 Malaysian parent/guardian
