Invitation to Participate
PROJECT TITLE: CHINESE IMMIGRANT YOUNG GAY MEN’S LIVED EXPERIENCE IN AUSTRALIA: A QUALITATIVE STUDY
Researchers at Taylor’s University, Malaysia, seek volunteer research participants to learn about how Chinese Immigrant Young Gay Man experienced their life abroad in Australia with the focus of their migration journey to Australia.
This is potentially an exciting opportunity for you to tell the story about your lived experiences in Australia as a Chinese Immigrant Young Gay Man to the researchers who are genuinely interested in hearing from you.
Would the research study be a good fit for me?
The study might be a good fit if you meet the following criteria:
• 18 – 30 years old;
• are ethnically Chinese;
• self-identified as a gay/queer man;
• reside in Australia at least six-months with a legal status as a citizen, permanent resident, international student, permanent foreign worker, temporary foreign worker, or other;
• moved/ immigrated to Australia at the age of 12 or older;
• proficient in English;
• willing and able to participate in a semi-structured interview; and
• able to provide written informed consent.
What would happen if I took part in the research study?
If you decide to participate, you will participate in one of the interview sessions online via a video-conferencing application (i.e. Zoom and/ Microsoft Teams), and the interview session will be carried out approximately 45 to 60 minutes.
Will I be paid to take part in the research study?
Participants will not be reimbursed for their participation, nor will their participation incur any expenses.
Additional Information
The research project is being carried out as a requirement for the course or degree course credit towards attaining a bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Taylor’s University by the principal investigator and co-researchers under the supervision of Pang Chia Yee.
