Hi there! My name is Samantha, a final semester Psychology student carrying out my final year project. The nationwide lockdown has caused many of us to spiral down into a life where it involves minimal physical activity and higher levels of being in a sedentary position such as sitting or laying down. Thus, studying this will allow me to see whether self-regulation and resilience will have any association with sedentarism or whether sedentarism affects self-regulation and resilience. Moreover, I would like to contribute my findings to the field of social sciences and hopefully, evidence-based strategies can be implemented in the near future to help undergraduates cope with adversities. As an undergraduate myself, I understand how tough this transition has been on us even before the pandemic, undergraduates are at a critical transition period where they are experiencing two simultaneous life transitions as emerging adults and adjusting to college or university life which may lead to negative impacts on their mental health if one is not resilient enough.
